Associations & Organisations

There are several independent alumni organisations related to single institutes or faculties that have been established over the last years, taking particular care of the issues of their own alumni and proving congenial closeness and expertise.
In addition, there are communities of friends and promoters that are dedicated to promotion in general and do also – although not exclusively – address former students.
Association of promoters of the University of Rostock (reg. assoc.)
The Association of promoters of the University of Rostock was founded in January 1991 to enable staff members, graduates and friends of the university, politicians and representatives of economy, science and culture to stimulate the development of the university.

Association of Friends and Promoters of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (reg. assoc.)
The „Association of Friends and Promoters of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment” was founded in 1992. Once a year, it awards the best diploma thesis, the best doctoral thesis and, since 2001, the Nehring medal.

Assocation of Rostockean Alumni (reg. assoc.) - VERS
VERS was founded by former students of the University of Rostock in Tübingen in 1957. These students had left the Soviet zone of occupation / GDR for political reasons, some of them only after years of imprisonment. VERS is a free, independent community of alumni of the University of Rostock. Persons who identify with the associations targets are invited to join the association.

Rostockean Friends of Archaeology e.V.
The association aims to promote and intensify Rostock’s research on the Greek and Roman ancient world.

Association of Friends and Promoters of Mechanical and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Rostock (reg. assoc.)
The association was founded in 2004 by staff members and alumni of the former Department of Agricultural Engineering and its follow-up departments. It is dedicated to the cultivation of contacts and traditions and intends to promote the young academics regarding their training and further education.

Mathematics Association Rho (reg. assoc.)
Our association intends to promote mathematics in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and particularly in Rostock region. This implies correspondence meetings, consortiums and seminars. In addition, we wish to share something very special – the joy of mathematics. The association was founded on the 23.06.2004.

Alumni-Med is an association founded in 2004 to commit alumni, former students and lecturers, to their faculty and to facilitate contacts between them.

The association „Physics alumni Rostock“ was founded on the 7. February 2007. It aims to promote science, research and education and, in particular, to advance the ties of former students and staff members with the Institute of Physics, its current students, postgraduates and staff members.

ALUMNI association Political sciences in Rostock (reg. assoc.)
The ALUMNI association Political sciences in Rostock was founded on initiative of students and alumni of the Institute of Political and Management Sciences in May 2006. It aims to establish a network of former as well as current students and lecturers of the institute and to contribute to the communication between alumni and prospective graduates.
