Lifelong learning
The concept of lifelong learning is closely related to the Bologna process and the introduction of the three-cycle structure (Bachelor's/Master's/doctorate (PhD). Lifelong learning is understood as continuous learning by means of flexible learning pathways and types of education. Thus university studies and other job-related further education is no longer limited to a specific phase in life but can be integrated in the everyday life of working people.
The University of Rostock sees itself as a place for lifelong education that can be accessed at any phase of life. The Children’s University allows an approach to science suitable for children.
Further education offers
The employees of the university can profit from diverse further education programs of the department Human Resources and Human Resource Development.
The University employees themselves can also profit from a wide range of further education offers. The events under the competence development scheme for teachers in university didactics is addressed both to Rostock-based university teachers and other interested people throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
At the University of Rostock, professionals can study in four post-graduate master programs and attend short-term certification courses. The university further education is oriented to the specific needs of professionals and gives new impulses to post-graduates, who have started their professional life.
The Academy for Senior Citizens of the University of Rostock offers plenty of interesting courses and events to its members. The topics range from literature, art and psychology to foreign languages.
Forschung zum Lebenslangen Lernen
Das Projekt KOSMOS ermöglicht Hochschullehrerinnen und Hochschullehrern, Bildungspraktikerinnen und -Praktikern sowie Expertinnen und Experten gemeinsam an Fragen des Lebenslangen Lernens (LLL) zu forschen. Dabei stehen die Bildungsinteressierten mit ihren individuellen Bildungsbiographien und ihren Kompetenzen im Vordergrund. Für traditionelle und nicht-traditionelle Zielgruppen werden auf der Grundlage der Erkenntnisse der Erwachsenenbildung und Lernforschung passgenaue Studienformate unterschiedlichster Art entwickelt und evaluiert. Damit die Studienformate nachhaltig wirken können und schrittweise eine Kultur des Lebenslangen Lernens (LLL) entsteht, wird dieser Prozess von der Organisationsentwicklung begleitet, die den Wandel der Institution Universität zur Stätte des LLL erforscht.
