Rostock’s Academy for Senior Citizens

Further education has been offered by Rostock’s Academy for Senior Citizens (RSA) from 1994 on. In 2004, the RSA was officially integrated into the University of Rostock. The Academy for Senior Citizens offers an extensive program which can be used by elder people without any entrance requirements as abitur or university degree.
In addition to the participation in university lectures as guests, participants may register for special courses addressed to senior citizens. This comprises scientific lectures, seminars and courses on literature, art, psychology but also foreign languages, work with computers or mnemonic training. There is a permanently growing interest in offers like this – 450 registrations in winter term 2008/2009 are the highest number ever achieved so far.
In addition, the Academy for Senior Citizen is the contact point related to the state program “Further education of elder people for volunteer work as senior trainer in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern”. Here, a train-the-trainer program for senior citizen is offered that shall enable them to provide their knowledge and skills to volunteer initiatives, associations or self-help groups.

Further information on course, lectures and other activities as well as contact details are available on the website of the Academy for Senior Citizens.
