100% Ökostrom ab 2012!
Universität Rostock stellt konsequent auf erneuerbare Energien um [mehr]
Efficient and careful use of natural resources
Environmental protection at the University of Rostock – everybody can contribute to this. To starts with the topic „Saving energy – instead of burning money“: It intends to sensitize students and staff members of the University of Rostock for a more conscious use of resources and, thus, contribution to climate protection. In addition, the operative expenses of the University of Rostock can be reduced by this.
Only in 2008, 69% (3.8 Mio €) of the University of Rostock’s operating expenses can be allocated to supplying the objects with current and heat. Thus, not only ecological reasons force to rethinking towards saving energy but also the enormously increased costs for energy and water and a related financial burden to the university budget.
Not only technical opportunities have to be exploited to reduce the energy demand. First and foremost, it needs every single university members understanding and changed own behaviour regarding the handling of resources. What has been implemented by the university so far are innovative building service engineering technology.
Was die Uni bereits umgesetzt hat - innovative Technologien in der Gebäudetechnik
Initiated in the context of holistic facility management, the Department of Technology, Construction and Real Estates encourages the implementation of innovative technologies under consideration of economical and ecological perspective prior to detailed planning and implementation.
Heating:
- Implementation of high-efficiency pumps
- Integration of the central building control system
- Implementation of heat pumps
- Use of geothermal near-surface resources
- Use of frequency-controlled electrical drives
- Integration of heat amount controllers into energy management
Ventilation:
- CO2-dependent air recirculation operation
- Implementation of recuperative and renewable heat transmitters
- Integration into the central building control system
- Locking towards open systems (window ventilation)
- Use of frequency-controlled ventilation engines
Cooling technology:
- Use of central cold water production
- Use of „free“ cooling
Sanitary engineering:
- Use of waterless and radar-controlled urinals
- Decentralized hot-water production (adapted to the needs)
- Use of water-saving perlators (3l/min)
- Use of self-closing and radar-controlled taps
- Opportunities of system pressure throttling
Electrical equipment:
- Autonomous illumination control depending on ambient light intensity and movements of persons (movement detectors)
- Group and scene related illumination control
- Use of the European Installation Bus (cross-system coupling)
- Use of building control system and combination with energy management
- Use of central access controls/lock management
MSR technology:
- Use of central and neutral building control system (BACnet)
- Use of LON/ EIB/ BACnet in building automation
- Recording of relevant parameters for economic and ecological operation of technical installations and related evaluation in the energy management with energy source exceeding warning
- Central timer programmes
- Use of energy limiting devices (load programmes)
- Locking functions
Examples of innovative technologies in buildings
- Use of near-surface geothermal resources (University library)
- BUS-controlled illumination (Lecture hall Albert-Einstein-Straße 2)
- Use of urinals without water (Sports hall Justus-von-Liebig-Weg)
- Use of high efficiency pumps (Auditorium Maximum)
- LON-based air-conditioning (Laboratory/Office building Albert-Einstein-Straße 3)
- Use of renewable heat recovery (Lecture/Institute building Ulmenstrasse)
