After your arrival you have to apply for a student residence permit at the immigration office.EU citizens and citizens from countries that do not require visa have to register too, in case they plan to stay in Germany for more than 3 months. Information and required documents for Non-EU citizens are available at the residents registration office Rostock:

Please, bring, among others, the following documents for your registration:

1. a valid passport with student visa (not applicable for EU citizens)
2. one biometric passphoto
3. one enrolment receipt of the University of Rostock or an application confirmation plus information on the expected duration of studies
4. one proof of study financing (scholarship proof, bank statement of the parents or similar). Currently about 670 EUR per months should be proven.
5. one proof of health insurance accepted by the Federal Republic of Germany (for EU citizens European chip card)
6. a valid rental agreement
