06.09.2011 Conference “Correlation Effects in Radiation Fields” from 12. - 16. September

Category: Institut für Physik

The International Conference on “Correlation Effects in Radiation Fields”, to be held at the Steigenberger Hotel Sonne from Sept. 12 - 16, focuses on the analysis and control of light-matter interactions from weak to strong fields. Optical lasers as well as shortwavelength free electron lasers are utilized for interrogating light-driven collective dynamics and correlation effects, opening up new horizons in several research areas.

Poster of CERF 2011

The Conference is organized by DFG Collaborative Research Center SFB 652  in cooperation with the Department of Life, Light, and Matter of the University of Rostock.

The center‘s main objective is advancing our understanding of the interaction between matter and radiation fields with emphasize on the role of strong correlations and collective phenomena. Within the joint experimental and theoretical investigations of a broad spectrum of systems (such as ultracold quantum condensates, semiconductor quantum films, molecular aggregates, atomic clusters and nanoparticles, and warm dense matter) new frontiers in light-matter science are being explored.

The program contains plenary and contributed talks as well as poster and hot topic sessions on
- strong-field physics of atoms and clusters
- dynamics of molecular complexes
- physics of dense plasmas
- coherent control of light-matter interactions
- correlation effects in semiconductors
- quantum optics.
An embedded interdisciplinary session highlights perspectives of applied light-matter science.
