Ombuds committee

The University of Rostock has established an ombuds committee. It is commissioned to investigate allegations of scientific misconduct (§ 5 of the rules).

Under the preliminary investigation, the committee deals with the allegations and gives the person affected by the suspect of misconduct the opportunity to immediately make a statement. If the committee comes to the conclusion that the allegations are not tenable, it closes the proceedings and notifies the affected parties about the reasons. If the allegation can not be resolved, the formal investigation proceedings are opened. The committee investigates by way of independent consideration of evidence whether scientific misconduct can be confirmed. Internal complaint proceedings against the decision of the commission in the formal investigation proceedings are not established (§ 6 of the rules).

The members of the investigation committee are:

Ombudspersons of the University of Rostock (Prof. Dr. Ch. Fahl, Fr. Prof. Dr. N. Vojdani, Prof. Dr. S. Glatzel, Prof. Dr. J. Piek)
