In Germany, there are two different ways to the conferral of a doctorate:

1. Conventional individual doctorate (traditional doctorate):
The individual doctorate is offered by all faculties of the University of Rostock. It includes different procedures which must be complied with.

2. Structured doctoral programme:
The University of Rostock offers the following structured doctoral programmes:
