BMBF sponsoring the University of Rostock in the "Top Level Research and Innovation in the New Federal States" program

For its REMEDIS research project, the University of Rostock is receiving € 14 million from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in its efforts to promote top-level research and innovation in Eastern Germany. "This is the highest accolade for a scientific institution. The University of Rostock is a place of top-level research. Excellent scientists and a high degree of interdisciplinary networking pay off when it comes to new research topics," said Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schareck, Rector of the University of Rostock.

In the project titled "REMEDIS – Higher quality of life by new novel micro implants", the Research Association pools engineering, medical and scientific competences by integrating association partners from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, university research from the old Federal States and other European countries but also internationally operating industry partners.

The research association's applicant in charge is the Institute of Biomedical Engineering in the Medical Faculty at the University of Rostock, headed by Prof. Dr. Schmitz.
