Max Planck Institute of Demographic Research Rostock (MPIDF) 

Works on investigation of basic demographic matters such as research on development, structures, dynamics and historical aspects of human population. In cooperation with the Institute of Sociology and Demography and the Institute of Economics at the University of Rostock, the MPIDF is involved into the  “Centre of Demographic Change Research Rostock” .

 

Fraunhofer Application Centre for large-scale structures in production engineering (AGP) 

Institution of the Fraunhofer Society for Promotion of Applied Research reg. assoc. (FhG) that works on developing new manufacturing methods and procedures as well as automation, measurement and quality technologies.
Transfer of technically ambitious new engineering expertise from science to business. 

 

Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphic Research, Division Rostock (IGD-R) 

Institution of the Fraunhofer Society for Promotion of Applied Research reg. assoc. (FhG) in the fields of multimedia communication, technologies for systematic processing of knowledge, mobile multimedia technologies, entertainment technologies and technologies and applications for computer-human being interactions, usability included. 

 

Leibnitz Institute for the Biology of Farm Animals (FBN) 

Studies the functional biodiversity of livestock as a basis for domestication and as a key component of sustainable agriculture and food supply. 

 

Institute of Measurement and Sensor systems e. V. (IMS) 

Technology and transfer oriented institute with scientific orientation on the sectors analytic Measurement technology and laboratory automation and measurement and automation system development. 

 

Institute of Bio-system Technology and Biomaterials reg. assoc. (iib) 

Biomedical research and development which is closely linked to business and cooperates with the Institute of Biomedical Technology of the University of Rostock in the areas of biomaterials testing, implant development, applied biomechanics and sensor technology. 

 

Institute of Cell Technology reg. assoc. 

The Institute of Cell Technology reg. assoc. (IZT) aims to develop and distribute cell technology procedures and methods. In addition, the institute intends to support companies of the region with courses and as technology transfer centre with the implementation of cell technologies regarding their work. 

 

Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy reg. assoc. (IRMED) 

Promotion of research and technology transfer in the field of regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy, of the cooperation of science and research with the University of Rostock, particularly the Faculty of Medicine, and of the cooperation with companies, federal and state ministries and other research institutes/other institutions.
