University Committee
The University Council advices the University regarding development planning and proposes measures that serve to establish the university’s profile and increase the performance and competitiveness of the university. In this context, it mainly contributes to the elaboration of concepts for university development, the determination of principles for resource, equipment and capacity planning, scientific and task-appropriate use of funds for research and education according to performances and capacities as well as establishment, modification or abolishment of courses of study. The University Council encourages co-operations between university and city and university and region.
Members: The term in office for members amounts to four years (10/2012 - 9/2016).

Prof. Dr. mult. Eike Lehmann

Director
Prof. Lehmann is graduate engineer for shipbuilding and honorary doctor of our university. He was the president of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), Professor at the Technical University at Hamburg/Harburg, Head of the German Society for Maritime Technology (STG), Supervisory board member of the TÜV Nord group and the GKSS Research Centre and, until 2001, Managing Director of the German Lloyd. Prof. Lehmann has rendered outstanding services to the improvement of the education of engineers ("The implementation of bachelor and master must not spoil the quality of the German engineering education.”) To this day, Prof. Lehmann has worked partly for private enterprises and as university professor.
Dr. Ulrich Fries
Wolfgang Grieger

Mr Grieger is solicitor. In the end of the 1970s, he took over a consultancy agency in Schleswig-Holstein. From 1989 on, he has established his company group Grieger-Mallison in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He incorporated his own tax academy, meanwhile active throughout Germany and considered as exemplary in its branch of trade. In addition, he owns and agricultural company. From 2001 on, Mister Grieger has been the honorary consul of Austria in the State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He initiates and sponsors social and cultural activities, such as the Jobfactory and some concert events. In the beginning of the 1990s, he provided free support to Rostock’s Faculty of Agriculture and Environment by free lectures on Economy and Law, first held by himself, later by his employees.
Prof. Dr. Hans Joachim Meyer

Prof. Meyer was born in Rostock and visited the school here. He studied German and English literature and language at the Humboldt University in Berlin and, at last, was extraordinarius for Applied Linguistics there. After the political changes of 1989, he was the Minister of Education during the final GDR period (April – October 1990) and, after the re-union, Minister of Science and Cultural Affairs in Saxony for 12 years. He is the Head of the Central Catholic Committee. During his work as Minister, Professor Meyer made a name for himself disputatious personality with much assertiveness.
