Family-friendly college audit
On 7th December 2009, the University of Rostock was awarded the certification of “family-friendly college” for the following three years.
The equal opportunities officer was and continues to be involved in the auditing process for the “family-friendly college” at the University of Rostock. So the equal opportunities officer took part in a strategy workshop dealing with the targets of the University of Rostock and the determination of action points, as well as an auditing workshop, in which among other things the following concrete targets and measures were agreed:
- Establishment of a childcare facility for members of the university
- Establishment of four parent-child workrooms, one at each main location, with appropriate equipment including a play corner, baby-change facilities and a workspace
- In-house seminars for senior staff for training in the areas of leadership and social skills, mediation, communication etc.
A project group, to which the equal opportunities officer also belongs, is to ensure the implementation of these targets and family-friendly measures in the coming three years. Participants in the project group are aware of their function as disseminators and communicate their targets and measures for the compatibility of family and career in the appropriate areas. The first project meeting took place in Autumn 2009.
