How does it work to be a professor and a mother?

Birgit Piechulla-Bahl is a female Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Rostock and published the book “How does it work to be a professor and a mother?” in March 2011. The book compiles the stories of 28 women who tell how the managed the double task to combine their scientific career with family life. The special thing is that husbands, companions and children are given a say here as well on how they see this “balancing act”. Being directly involved, they have to endorse and to support the wife's or mother's decision for a university career. The special fascination of the book derives from the various individual experiences and frankly described, very personal stories as one would not find it a scientific report.  The article‘s very vivid narrations and useful hints show how to combine university career and family life.

Further information and the opportunity to order the book are provided here.
