Gender-fair language in statutory instruments

Regarding a use of gender-conscious language, the University of Rostock complies with the Manual of Legal Formality (3rd Issue 2008). In Section B (General Recommendations on Formulating Legal Regulations), point 1 (Language to be used for acts and legal regulations), the basic principles of equal linguistic treatment of women and men are determined.

The State Conference of Equal Opportunity Commissioners at Universities in M-V stated again on using gender-conscious language in 2008:

„It is indicated that gender-neutral or gender-adequate terms for persons have to be used in directives. A good illustration of gender-adequate language is the LHG M-V.“
