Career paths of women in business and science in MV

Carina Hojenski

The Equal Opportunity Commissioner’s Office succeeded in acquiring third-party funds for the University of Rostock with the cross-university project „Career paths for women in science and business“ started in 2009. In addition to material expenses, staff costs will be available from this – one part-time job for a scientific staff member until the end of 2012 with an option for extension.

All universities of the state M-V are involved into the project, which is unique in Germany. It will, combining university-specific with cross-university measures, contribute to improving the equal treatment, particularly among female and male academics, significantly by supporting ambitious and excellently qualified female scientist regarding their equal participation in job market and sciences. In addition, gifted female students and pupils are addressed to indicate potential science and business career paths even during school and university education. At the University of Rostock, the project is affiliated to the Faculty of Informatics and Electrical Engineering, here the working group e-learning and cognitive systems. Project manager is Miss Prof. Dr. Alke Martens.
