Frequently asked questions
Evaluation and accreditation have different objectives. The State University Law prescribes, according to § 6 HRG, an evaluation of the university tasks, inter alia of teaching, which has to be carried out in regular intervals. A distinction is drawn between internal evaluation carried out by the university itself and the external evaluation on the basis of the internal evaluation results, carried out by an independent and science-oriented institution. As a tool for evaluating the fulfilment of tasks, evaluation is different from accreditation. Both are separate procedures.
Evaluation is process-oriented and aims to improving the „subject“, while accreditation determines that (minimum) standards are kept at a specific date.According to the KMK decision dated 1st March 2002, evaluation results can be integrated into an accreditation procedure promptly.
