Dr. Petra Boxler graduated in mathematics and got her doctorate degree in 1988. After two years of mathematic research work, she decided to reorient her career and started to work in the field of professional education and ecclesiastical adult education. From 1993 to the end of 2005, Dr. Petra Boxler managed the subject field “Long-term academic education” in the Centre of Further Education at the University of Bremen (ZWB). In the same period, she took extra occupational study courses in the field adult education and new learning technologies. She was the volunteer manager of the children’s aid organisation "terre des hommes Germany" from 1995 to 2004.

In the beginning of 2006, Dr. Petra Boxler became the head of the Further Education Centre of the University of Bremen which is a reliable cooperation partner of Rostock’s Centre of Quality Assurance regarding study and further education.
