Online self assessment for persons who intend to become a student
Does my chosen course of study correspond with my skills and aptitudes, interests and capabilities?
To leave no doubts on this, the University of Rostock, in cooperation with the Association of North German Universities, offers a web-based self-test for future students, a so-called self-assessment. The result of this self-assessment is an ideal basis for a personal meeting with a representative of the General Students Advisory Office or the Specialised Advisory Offices at the individual faculties and courses of Study of the University of Rostock.

Advantages at a glance
A participation in the self assessments provides, free of charge, the following information to future students:
- temporally and spatially independent information at the internet
- an insight into current requirements to students
- a personal feedback on the results that displays individual strengths and weaknesses related to certain course of study
- decision support regarding the personal study or job orientation related to study and job
For which courses of study are there self-tests available?
The Consortium of Northern German Universities offers self-assessment regarding:
- Social sciences
- Natural sciences
- Law
- Business sciences
- Linguistics and Humanities
Check the list of subjects to find out which self-assessment is suitable for you.
Other tests:
- For engineering sciences, the Association of North German Universities uses the test elaborated by the RWTH Aachen.
- If you are interested in a becoming a teacher, you may use the self-investigation of the career consultancy for teachers elaborated by the association "Counselling for Teacher".
How to carry out the self-test?
The self assessments is voluntary and free of charge. It will take about 90 to 120 minutes and all you need is an internet access, time and quietness. You can start the assessment immediately after registration. For a first impression, there is a demo version that you may test without prior registration.
What does the result indicate?
Right after fulfilling the last task, participants get a detailed evaluation. This comprises an extensive profile on strengths and weaknesses – also in comparison with other participants of the relevant field of study. The results feedback comprises:
- the number of solved tasks
- information on your aptitude for a certain field of study and your affinity to certain topics
- Recommendations for further actions
