Student loans
Student loans have been granted by various institutions throughout the country for several years and are designed for study funding independent from BafÖG or own funds.
As a general rule, the disbursements are made to the beneficiary on a monthly basis. These disbursements including interests must then be repaid to the creditor. The amount of disbursements differs for every credit grantor and may amount up to 1000 EUR. In most cases, the duration of disbursements will not exceed 6 years and the repayment usually begins 6-12 months after study completion.
Study loans are offered by private institutions and the state-owned bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau). Interest rates are not always fixed and may vary depending on the market conditions. In any case, it is recommended to verify all offerings in detail so that the best solution can be found for each individual situation.
