The political parties SPD and CDU leading the state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern agreed in their coalition agreement of November 2006 that the undergraduate degree in this federal state will be tuition-free. Also postgraduate studies are designed to be tuition-free. 

Affordable rents!

On average, students pay about 222 € for rent including incidental costs. Rostock ranks seven among the cities with the lowest rents in Germany. And, when you look at the total costs for living, Rostock has an even better position.

Super semester ticket

One more good news – you will not need a car in Rostock, because every student gets a semester ticket, which is valid for public transportation throughout Rostock and even to the beach. 

The ticket of RSAG (regional public transportation company) is valid for the entire semester and includes the inner city zone Rostock and rides to Warnemünde and on the ferries over the Warnow river.

... saving money as a student in Rostock is not always easy, but the prices at bakeries, cafés and pubs and also at the cinema are favorable, and in some places, students get an extra discount – so, even with little money, you can fully enjoy the student life in Rostock.
