Newspapers ads and blackboard posting
Here you can find offers of large commercial providers, real estate agents and, first of all, many private landlords and those, looking for flatmates, or vacating tenants looking for someone to take over their lease before the notice period expires.
The two biggest regional newspapers in Rostock are Ostsee-Zeitung and Norddeutsche Neueste Nachrichten, both newspapers publish housing ads.
In addition, there are various free newspapers with ads, which are distributed throughout the city every week and which contain many apartment ads. The major free newspapers are Warnow-Kurier, Ostsee-Anzeiger and Rostocker Blitz.
The ads of some newspapers are summarized online www.nordclick.de. And then, of course, there are many postings and „blackboards“, which can be found in the individual university buildings (especially in the main building, the refrectory and at August-Bebel-Strasse). Here you will find the traditional paper notes offering apartments and flat share of all kinds, car share, finding a ride and many more. Maybe this method is a bit old-fashioned, but has often proved successful.

There are four refectories at different locations of the city. The food has been awarded several times with the „Golden Tray” for the best refectory in Germany.
