Subject and objective of the study course
The bachelor study course Business Pedagogics teaches subject-related and generic competences that qualify for working successfully in the field of vocational education and the business sector. Here, technical competences in the field of business pedagogics, economics and one additional subject, depending on the chosen study course, are acquired. Thus, the study course is a polyvalently oriented one. It qualifies for working in various fields of occupation.
Apart from a comprehensive economic science education, students may choose between study field I (business science orientation) and study field II (vocational school orientation) in their second term.
In case of the vocational school orientation, the following general-education subjects are an option: German, English, French, Physics, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Spanish. Both study courses qualify for working as teacher at vocational schools if completed with a business pedagogic master study course degree. Still, study field II is more oriented to this professional perspective than study field I due to its qualification in a general-education school subject. A basic pedagogical profile can be gained by attending compulsory optional modules in this study course as it prepares students for working self-employed or starting their own business.
Possible fields of occupation are: Teaching in vocational youth and adult education, education and human resource management in companies and education institutions, education administration in associations, chambers (e.g. Chambers of Industry) or public institutions, vocational and job guidance or works in vocational training policy and educational counseling. In addition, the bachelor in combination with a related master study course allows to work as teacher at vocational schools (advanced teaching profession).
