There is an admission restriction for this study course so that an application is required. It has to be submitted online between 1. June and 15. July.  

Content and objectives of the study course

The Bachelor study course Business sciences teaches and trains knowledge, skills and methods needed to understand and analyse economic structures, processes and developments and to implement them in a result-oriented way. Based on the combination of business economic, engineering and legal principles, a differentiation into two fields of study takes place:

  • Business economic orientation (BWL)
  • Economic orientation (VWL)

This Bachelor study course aims to qualify graduates for a broad field of potential works in many different sector and to get a specification due to the four study dimensions at the same time.The study course is designed for a study period of 6 terms with the option to continue afterwards in a master study course.

Study course structure

Study course BWL

  • Teaching of advanced business economic knowledge in the field of company management, with particular focus on the different fields of operation in a company and on accounting.
  • The graduates are qualified to investigate business economy data, to process them and to implement them into entrepreneurial decisions. Thus, a broad range of possible applications regarding management support, accounting and controlling are opened but also company-oriented services as tax and company consultancy. The private industry is the main field of implementation here.
  • Study course graduates are particularly qualified to start the continuing Master study course Business economics.

Study course VWL

  • Teaching of advanced skills in the field of applied economics, particularly by applying empirical social research methods practically.
  • There are many job options for graduates of this study course - in economic policy and economy planning, accounting and finances, statistic departments and administrations. In addition to state authorities and institutions there are fields of employment in private economy, particularly in banks and insurance companies.
  • Graduates of this study course are particularly qualified for the master study course Economics.
