Enrolment
There is an admission restriction for foreign students. Thus, an application is required. It has to be submitted between 1. May and 15. July.

(1) As main admission requirement for the master study course Diversity and Evolution, a first job-qualifying university degree has to be proven.
(2) The admission for the master study course Diversity and Evolution at the University of Rostock is subject to the following additional conditions:
1. Applicants have to proof a final mark of 3.0 minimum.
2. Foreign applicants have to proof a proficiency of Germany on level C1 (Joint European Reference system). Native speakers are exempted from this obligation.
(3) The admission requirements according to section 2 have to be proven with certified copies of the related certificates enclosed to the application for admission to study in this study course. The examination board decides upon the acceptance of the proof. The acknowledgement of sufficient proficiency of German language according to section 2, pt. 2 is given by the examination board upon request on the basis of recommendations given by the University of Rostock’s language centre.
Study subject and objectives
Diversity & Evolution is an organism-centered study course. The education provided here creates an interface between classical botanical and zoological disciplines with genetics, molecular biology and behavioural biology. Application-oriented fields as fish biology, medical parasitology and animal breeding are integrated.
The study course teaches the scientific principles of classifying and understanding profound changes as loss of biodiversity and climate change.
