| Special information | Knowledge of the French language according to level B1 is required to enter the studies successfully. A grading test has to be passed in the beginning of the term. Further related information are provided on the Institute of Roman studies’ homepage. Until the end of the studies, good skills in a second modern language or Latin have to be acquired. |

Enrolment
There is an admission restriction for foreign students. Thus, an application is required. It has to be submitted between 1. June and 15. July. Further information are provided here
Study subject and objectives
Instead of a restricting orientation to strictly determined professional aims, this study course intends to qualify for various professional fields. This applies for both of the two versions of the B.A. study course Roman studies.
As parts of the generalist-oriented B. A. study course, the Roman partial study courses offer professional and methodical basic knowledge on language, literatures and cultures of the francophone/Spanish-speaking countries and regions, its literature science, linguistic and cultural science description and interpretation and the processing and teaching of this knowledge.
The study course comprise of the following three fields:
- Literature sciences
- Linguistic
- Culture and media
- Linguistic practice
- Teaching competence
Stay abroad
All students are urgently recommended to stay in a French or Spanish-speaking country for at least three months during the studies.
