Study subject content and objectives
Sociology aims to explain and understand social acting on the micro-level (e. g. family), the meso level (e. g. organisations) and the macro-level (e. g. society). Sociological theories and analyses deal with a multitude of social facts. Social structures and their changes, forms of communitization and socialisation, social structures, institutions and cultural phenomena deriving from human acting and shaping it at the same time. Based on empirical research and close cooperation with the neighbouring disciplines (e. g. psychology, economics, political sciences, demography), sociological analyses contribute to diagnoses of social problems and conflicts, show development potentials and solution opportunities and criticize social undesirable developments.
The bachelor study course (B.A.) sociology teaches knowledge, insights, skills and methods that require observing, interpreting and analysing social structures, processes and developments from a sociological perspective.
