Enrolment Master

No admission restrictions apply for this study course/subject. Thus, no application is required. The enrolment can be done online from 1. August to 30. September (if you wish to start your study in the summer term you have to enrol from 1. to 30. March).

Study requirements:

  • Verification of a successfully completed. B.A.-study course Religion in context as first subject if chosen as first subject or as second subject if chosen as second subject;
  • Verification of a successfully completed. B.A.-study course if chosen as second subject (newly started)

Study subject and objectives

The Magister Artium study course Theology  / Religious Studies combines tasks and methods from two discipline traditions - normative, mainly theological, and descriptive, religion scientific – and relates them to each other. The study course enable its graduates for scientific work but also for work outside the scientific context in a narrower sense that demand theological judgement, religious education and development of rational solution strategies.

The study course comprises of modules from the branches Old Testament, New Testament, Church history, Systematic theology and Religion sciences.

The following competences are taught to the students:

  • enhanced professional expertise, particularly by choosing own professional focuses in the modules;
  • enhanced hermeneutic skills, particularly regarding working on texts but also considering (religion-)historical matters
