Application and enrolment (all Schools)
There is an admission restriction for foreign students. Thus, an application is required. It has to be submitted between 1. June and 15. July. Further information are provided here

Study subject and objectives
The study course Work – Economy – Technology (WET) addresses teaching profession students of the courses primary and elementary school, elementary and secondary school, extended secondary school and special need education. These students acquire selected knowledge from the subject areas work, economy and technology as well as knowledge, skills and abilities regarding teaching methods. You will learn to orient your future lessons to technical, environmental and social contexts. Pupils of general-education schools shall get a basic understanding of the working and business world. They have to be prepared to the current and future requirements of the life-relevant field job, company, working place, private household, market, leisure and public theoretically and practically. The study course WET includes the education and teaching qualification for handicraft lessons in the orientation stage (form 5 and 6).
Structure of studies
The study course is divided into two stages:Basic course:The basic course teaches the basics required to implement the subsequent main course successfully. It serves for acquiring ergonomic, technical, economic and didactic basic competences.The basic course has a total duration of 4 terms and includes, apart from the basic lectures in mathematics, physics and informatics, a. o. the following compulsory lectures related to the parts of study:
- Work (technique, product manufacturing)
- Economy (Introduction into business economics, cost and activity accounting basics, principles of behavioural research, introduction into economics, introduction into micro- and macroeconomics)
- Technology (Principles of electrical engineering, technical mechanics, technical modelmaking)
- Didactics (Principles of lesson planning and teaching for special lessons, Focus handicraft lessons, technology and economy)
Main course:
The main course serves for acquiring the knowledge and skills that enable to teach in a technically as well as pedagogically-physiologically and particularly didactically substantiated manner. The main course comprises of 4 terms and includes, among others, the following lectures:
- Work (Legal basis, job orientation, ergonomic)
- Economy (eligible mandatory lectures: Principles of procurement, marketing basics, financing and investments, organisation theory, human resources, accounting)
- Technology (eligible mandatory lectures: design, manufacturing science, material science, electrical engineering, measurement technology, maritime traffic technology)
- Didactics (Planning, preparation and design of special lessons – processing of extracurricular examples; school-related tutorials - sitting in on classes / practice lessons at general education.
