University entrance qualification obtained outside the Federal Republic of Germany
Before starting the application procedure relevant for your, please, verify that you have an university entrance qualification for the University of Rostock based on your qualifications obtained abroad.
The database anabin (acceptance and evaluation of foreign education certificates) allows an initial evaluation of your education’s value with regard to the German education system.
Studienkolleg (Foundation course)
There is no Studienkolleg at the University of Rostock.

Required language skills
Requirement for starting studies at the University of Rostock is a proof of sufficient German language skills. The following certificates are accepted as proof here:
- German Language Examination for University admission (DSH)
- Central intermediate examination „Zentrale Mittelstufenprüfung II (ZMP II)“ at least with mark "good"
- TestDaF

Preparatory German language courses
Pre-study German language courses like beginners courses, basic and intermediate courses are not offered by the University of Rostock. Please also note that study-integrated courses offered by the University of Rostock to visiting students and other enrolled students, are not suitable for student applicants and are, therefore, not available to them.
The University of Rostock does not provide preparatory courses for foreign students in Germany.

Certifications / Translations
Certifications
The University of Rostock demands officially certified copies of your documents.
Officially means that the public authority or institution that issued the certificate confirms the copy’s correspondence with the original by applying a relevant round stamp (official seal).
Certified copies can be issued abroad by:
- German embassies and consulates
- The school or university that issued the certificate
- A notary, who appostilled the copies
Official certifications within the Federal republic have to be implemented by:
- A seal-bearing German authority
- A notary
- A translator officially sworn-in for the relevant language in Germany
- The consulate or embassy of the home country in Germany
Translations
The University of Rostock accepts translations in German or English language. All translations have to be issued by officially sworn-in translators.
