Studying without Abitur
Craftsmen, technicians, certified expert and owners of equated degrees are granted a general university admission right which means that they are entitled to study any subject of their choice at the University of Rostock without further aptitude tests or probation periods. Details are regulated by the qualification provisions M-V.
If you work but do not have a university entrance qualification, you may pass an admission examination for all study courses offered at the University of Rostock which substantiate your qualification background and aptitude for the chosen study course (according to the admission examination regulations dated 23 October 2003, issued by the Academic Senate of the University of Rostock on the basis of the State University Act – LHG M-V dated 5 July 2002, Fourth Act on Amendment of the LHG dated 16 December 2010): Zugangsprüfungsordnung

Those persons are admitted to the admission examination who have worked for at least five years or are able to proof a completed professional education plus at least three years of work. Here, it has to be considered that education and work have to belong to a vocational field which is directly factually related to the study course.
The passed admission examination qualifies for studying at the University of Rostock in the study course identified in the certificate. The entrance qualification acquired with the admission examination is valid for an indefinite period of time. Still, the existing entrance qualification does not guarantee a place of study. For admission-restricted study courses, please, use the Online-Application system within the period of 1 June to 15 July of the calendar year. The online enrolment for study courses without admission restrictions can be done from 1 August to 30 September of the calendar year.
The admission examinations take place two times a year. Applications for admission examinations in summer term have to be submitted between 1 February and 1 April as the examinations take place before 15 June. For the admission examinations in winter term, the application period from 1 August to 1 October applies. Here, the examination takes place before 15 December.
