Prof. Dr. Bodo Urban studied Mathematic from 1973 to 1978 and graduated with a doctor degree at the University of Rostock in 1983. Since the opening in January 1992, he managed Rostock’s department of the Fraunhofer Institute of Graphic Data processing. He was appointed as Professor of Multimedia Communication at the University of Rostock’s Department of Informatics in September 1998. The focuses of his research are internet technologies, multimedia and hypermedia, e-learning, human-centred interaction technology and entertainment technologies.

Prof Dr. Urban is the spokesman of the expert panel information and communication technology of the Innovation agency Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V (FAK IuK), board member of the Innovation agency Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and board member of the IT initiative Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Within the Society of Informatics, he is a member of the department of Graphic Data Processing and spokesman of the panel “Computer graphics & E-learning”.

As a member of the advisory board, Prof. Dr. Urban feels committed to the Scientific Further Education of the University of Rostock and has supported this field for many years now.
