Course Description

Short description of the course:
To enhance the professional development of the University’s doctoral students in the fields of teaching and learning, the Innovative teaching methods in higher education course provides an essential foundation within a structured three-level training framework. Positioned at Level 1, this course focuses on the acquisition of fundamental, general, and factual knowledge, as well as core skills required for designing and facilitating teaching activities. Particular emphasis is placed on the effective integration of digital tools and learning technologies provided by the institution.

Content: The programme comprises five workshops of 1.5 hours each designed and run as part of the doctoral school’s cross-disciplinary modules. The 5 workshops are interdependent: each provides prerequisites for the other sequences. They are organised around theoretical contributions, linked to practical activities, collaboration and exchanges between participants.

Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • describe the European higher education area: changes at university (massification, diversity of students), the Bologna process, competition between universities, quality in higher education, etc.
  • use the terminology of teaching and training in higher education: syllabus, learning objectives, domains of learning, pedagogical alignment, learning theories, pedagogical design, rubrics, etc.
  • choose the appropriate components to build and deliver a course in higher education (teaching methods, assessment methods, digital tools
