to the call
With the request to invite a guest researcher, the conception of a series of events for early career researchers is expected. The concept is to be developed jointly by the applicant and the guest researcher. The series of events serves the scientific discourse with a superordinate topic. Moreover, the series of events should contain interdisciplinary elements and facilitate an interdisciplinary and cross-faculty exchange.
after successful approval
It is planned to transfer the allowance (including the travel allowance) as an advance payment, 30 days before the beginning of the guest stay, as a total amount to the fellow's bank account.
The payment of the expense allowance is made without deduction of taxes. According to the German Fiscal Code, the University is obliged to report payments exceeding 1,500.00 EUR per year to the tax offices. This also applies to foreign payees. The responsible tax office will be informed of the payment in accordance with the notification regulation of 07.09.1993, BGBl. I p. 1554 in the version of 23.12.2003. The fellow is responsible for recording and declaring the payment. The respective tax office will then decide on taxation in accordance with the applicable law.
In the event that childcare is required, the Prorectorate for Research and Transfer of Knowledge will settle the costs incurred directly with the relevant service provider (by invoice).
In the event of approval, the host researcher and the fellow will each receive a letter of approval.
Further responsibility for communication with the fellow lies with the host scientist or the respective department of the Interdisciplinary Faculty at the University of Rostock.
Two months prior to the beginning of the stay, the host researcher or the respective department of the Interdisciplinary Faculty will contact the Proectorate of Research and Transfer of Knowledge to arrange a joint welcome meeting with the fellow.
Furthermore, it is expected that the host researcher or the respective department of the Interdisciplinary Faculty submits complete information on the individual courses to the Prorector of Research and Transfer of Knowledge (mabafuni-rostockde) and the Graduate Academy (gradauni-rostockde) two months before the beginning of the stay.
The stay is primarily prepared and organized jointly by the host researcher and the fellow. The respective coordinators of the assigned department support the researcher in organizing the stay. Furthermore, the Graduate Academy is happy to share its experience with you.
The Advice on the preparation and accompanying guest stays is intended to support the researchers in their preparation and organisation.
The "Advice on the preparation and accompanying guest stays" also includes an overview of potential various-price accommodation options.
The leaflet "Advice on the preparation and accompanying guest stays" contains an overview of contact persons when looking for a childcare place in a day care centre.
The central contact for support with family accompaniment is the Family Office:

The payment of the expense allowance to the guest scientist is made without deduction of taxes. The guest scientist must state the expense allowances as income in his/her personal income tax return. The responsible tax office then decides on the taxation according to the respective law in force.
According to the tax code, the university is obliged to report payments that exceed 1,500 € per year to the tax offices. This also applies to foreign payees.
The series of events for young scientists is prepared and organised by the applicant and the guest researcher. The Graduate Academy supports the applicant with public relation work.
