Exhibition "Experiment Future"

Art Gallery Rostock, March to May 2019

The exhibition Experiment Future draws the attention to science and researching art. Both disciplines meet in a multimedia exhibition, thus creating a tension that encourages discussion and enables new perspectives and findings. Artists develop future images and scenarios in dialogue with science institutions from Rostock.

With more than 20 artistic works and an extensive program comprising of workshops, performances and discourses, Experiment Future can be considered as Germany’s first major and institutional Art & Science Exhibition.

Exhibition “People, Knowledge, Paths of Life”

Rostock Cultural History Museum, June to November 2019

The exhibition „People – Knowledge – Paths of Life“ presents 600 years of Rostock eventful university and science history. The University of Rostock and Rostock‘s Museum of Cultural History have jointly designed an exposition on this. The university’s treasures as well as spectacular loans from Germany and abroad will be shown on more than 800 m². The exhibition will mainly focus on biographies of past and present students, lecturers and staff member here.

Summer Celebration at and for the City of Rostock

Universitätsplatz, 22 – 23 June 2019

A city festival with tremendous atmosphere and a weekend full of highlights are ahead of our guest when the university celebrates its 600th anniversary with a summer party. Rostock’s artistic and cultural players from the genres music, show and theatre present themselves, amongst others on the anniversary stage in front of the university’s main building. Trendy Street Food can be purchased at various stalls. A children’s party with fun and music invites young guests to participate.

Music theatre „Cornelius Relegatus“

University of Music and Theatre Rostock, 2 – 15 November 2019

The music theatre will be produced and brought to premiere in cooperation with the University of Music and Theatre Rostock. It is based on the theatre comedy „Cornelius Relegatus“, written by Albert Wichgreve. It describes the changeful career of a failed student of the 16th century in a satirical manner.
The composition was assigned to composer Sven Daigger. Sarah Grahneis will be in charge of the dramaturgy.

Premiere on: 2 November 2019.
Additional performances: 3/4/8/9/10/15 November 2019.

Festive season for the 600th anniversary celebration

8 - 12 November 2019

The University of Rostock will stand upside down for five days and celebrate with the city and many guests from Germany and abroad its 600th anniversary. The university invites all alumni on 9 November 2019. It is planned to have a morning pint at the Students‘ Cellar, an alumni meeting, show lectures and a big anniversary ball. Experience a diverse campus program, art and cultural events, dance, scientific lectures, a festive parade and the academic ceremony and many more.
