Mental Health First Responders at the University of Rostock – We’re here for you!

Points of contact for students and staff experiencing mental health crises

Why does the University of Rostock have mental health first responders?

Mental health is just as important as physical health—and yet it is often overlooked. Our workplace mental first responders help ensure that employees do not have to face their problems alone, but instead receive support early on. With this initiative, we aim to foster a corporate culture at the University of Rostock where mental health can be discussed openly and everyone receives the support they need.

What do mental first responders do?

Workplace mental first responders are colleagues who are specially trained to provide first aid in cases of psychological distress or crises. They are not therapists, but trained contact persons who listen, show understanding, and offer initial guidance during difficult moments. The focus is on creating a safe, trusting environment where employees can openly discuss their concerns and stressors.
