Fund of the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities

Application deadline: 1 January und 1 July of the current year

The Sustainability Fund supports initiatives by members and affiliates of the University of Rostock which contribute to sustainable – that is, ecologically, economically, socially and culturally viable – operations at the University of Rostock.

Preference is given to measures that have an impact in several areas of the university (e.g. several faculties) and are ideally planned by people from different organisational units.

TARGET GROUP:

All members and affiliates of the University of Rostock are eligible to apply.

FUNDING:

The grant amount can range from €1,000 to €3,000, depending on the number of departments involved (= faculties, central institutions, central university administration, etc.; up to €1,000 for one department, up to €3,000 for at least three departments).
The grant is intended exclusively to cover material costs (e.g. printing costs or travel expenses), support staff and speakers’ fees.
The maximum project duration is one year.
In principle, it is possible that the funds applied for from the Sustainability Fund may constitute partial funding, i.e. the project may also receive additional funding from other sources.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:

The call for applications takes place twice a year.
The submission deadlines are on1 January and 1 July of the current year.
Outside these deadlines, subject to prior consultation with the Vice-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities, and provided that funds are still available, smaller projects that respond to current events may be funded.
Applications must be submitted via the online application portal.

PROCESS:

Applications from students must be submitted in collaboration with academic or administrative staff. All applications must demonstrate that the project will be managed effectively throughout its entire duration.
Proposals received are reviewed by the Sustainability Round Table to assess their scope and costs.
Preference is given to measures that have an impact across several areas of the university (e.g. several faculties) and are ideally planned by individuals from different organisational units.
Measures are eligible for funding if:
- implementation can be guaranteed within one year,
- they benefit the general public and are not aimed at benefiting individuals or a small number of people
The following are not eligible for funding:
- measures that entail ongoing follow-up costs or are designed to be long-term,
- measures that have already been implemented at the University of Rostock, or are currently being implemented or planned, and for which the University of Rostock has already allocated funds in its budget,
- measures from projects that are coming to an end or have already been completed, and
- staffing costs (except for funding for support staff), final-year projects and qualification projects, as well as hospitality expenses.
The decision on the allocation of funds from the Sustainability Fund rests with the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities, based on the recommendation of the Sustainability Round Table.
Issuance of a notification of approval or a letter of rejection (expected 4–6 weeks after the application deadline).
Announcement of the funding decision by the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities via the University of Rostock’s website and in reports from the office of the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities.

REPORTING:

A final report on the project carried out must be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor no later than three months after the funding has ended.
