Lottery Procedure
The lottery procedure at the University of Rostock takes place only for the winter semester and only for the 1st semester. A lottery procedure is initiated only if there are still available study places for a restricted degree program and either all applicants have been admitted or the award procedure is declared concluded.
Registration for the lottery procedure dure takes place online from October 1st to October 15th of the respective year (deadline) and is possible for every restricted degree program/subject at the University of Rostock. You can also register for the lottery procedure for multiple degree programs.
The fact that an application is possible in the lottery procedure does not imply that there are available study places in the desired degree program. No documents need to be submitted. Each applicant should independently check their access requirements for the desired degree program in advance (university entrance qualification, possibly sufficient knowledge of German, etc.).
Applicants who are not admitted will not receive a notification. In case of admission, it must be assumed that the courses have already started at the time of enrollment.
Please note that for degree programs with a centralized allocation process (Medicine & Dentistry), the final admission and rejection notifications in the selection process are sent by the Foundation for University Admissions (hochschulstart.de). Please wait for this notification.

Result of the lottery procedure for the winter semester 2024/25
After the completion of the local allocation process at the University of Rostock, a lottery procedure was conducted for the following degree programs/subjects:
- Special Education / Teaching Degree in Special Education (Sonderpädagogik / Lehramt für Sonderpädagogik)
No allocation process was conducted for the degree programs in Human Medicine and Dentistry.
