Application deadline: 1 February und 1 August of the current year
The Diversity Fund supports initiatives by members and affiliates of the University of Rostock that promote diversity and equal opportunities and improve the participation of people from groups that have previously been under-represented. This encompasses areas such as gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, physical and mental abilities, religion and belief, social background, ethnic origin and nationality, as well as age.
Examples of initiatives that may be funded by the Diversity Fund include exhibitions, specialist talks, lecture series, workshops or other events.
Preference is given to initiatives that have an impact across several areas of the university (e.g. several faculties) and are ideally planned by people from different organisational units.
TARGET GROUP:
- All members and affiliates of the University of Rostock are eligible to apply.
FUNDING:
- The grant amount can range from €1,000 to €3,000, depending on the number of departments involved (= faculties, central units, central university administration, etc.; up to €1,000 for one department, up to €3,000 for at least three departments).
- The funding is intended exclusively to cover material costs (e.g. printing costs or travel expenses), support staff and costs for guest speakers.
- The maximum project duration is one year.
- In principle, it is possible for the funds applied for from the Diversity Fund to constitute partial funding, i.e. the project may also receive additional funding from other sources.
- Personnel costs (except for funds for support staff), degree theses and qualification projects, as well as hospitality expenses, are not eligible for funding. Funding for projects that are coming to an end or have already been completed is also not possible.
APPLICATION DEADLINES:
- The call for applications takes place twice a year.
- The submission deadlines are 1 February and 1 August of the current year.
- Outside these deadlines, subject to prior consultation with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities, and provided that funds are still available, smaller projects that respond to current events may be funded.
- Applications must be submitted via the ONLINE application portal.
PROCESS:
- Applications from students must be submitted in collaboration with members of the academic, administrative and/or technical staff. At the time of submission, it must be demonstrated that the project will be managed effectively throughout its duration.
- The decision on the allocation of funds from the Diversity Fund rests with the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities, based on a recommendation from the Commission for Equal Opportunities and Diversity (KCV).
- During the assessment process, the Commission may decide at its own discretion whether a personal presentation of the project by the applicant is required, in order to give Commission members the opportunity to ask questions.
- Issuance of a grant award letter (approved funding is allocated to a sub-cost centre within the cost centre specified in the application) or a rejection letter (rejections are generally not justified) is expected 4–6 weeks after the application deadline.
- Announcement of the funding decision by the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities via the University of Rostock’s website and in reports from the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities.
REPORTING:
- No later than three months after the funding period ends, a final report on the project carried out must be submitted to the Pro-Rector for Research, Talent Development and Equal Opportunities.
