The federal government is providing one billion euros to fund 1,000 additional tenure-track professorships. This program will run until 2032. For the first time, the program of the federal government has established tenure-track professorship at German universities on a broad basis. For many young scientists, the path to a professorship is about to become much more transparent and easier to plan: The tenure-track professorship is aimed at young scientists in the early stages of their careers and provides for an immediate transition to a lifetime professorship after a successful probationary phase.(Source: BMBF).
The University of Rostock had been successful with its personnel development concept in the second round of approvals (2019), therefore it was able to acquire funding for four tenure-track professorships. These four professorships will be funded with up to 3.8 million euros until 2032. The funding includes a strategy surcharge to support the implementation of the tenure-track professorship.
