Subject-specific admission requirements
For individual degree programs, other subject-specific requirements are required in addition to the university entrance qualification as a general requirement.
In a few degree programs, these consist of students having to provide proof of a so-called pre-study internship before starting their studies. This is currently the case at the University of Rostock for the following degree programs: Agricultural Sciences (B. Sc.), Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc.), Environmental Engineering (B.Sc.), Industrial Engineering (B. Sc.).
Apart from that, the courses listed below require the completion of an aptitude test procedure:
For all teacher training programs: completion of the CCT self-exploration procedure
For the subject of sports science in the teacher training program: sports aptitude test
For the teaching subjects Theatre (Performing Arts) and Music in the teacher training program: aptitude test
Master porgrammes
For Master's degree programs, further subject-specific requirements often apply. You can find more information on this on the page on ► Admission Requirements for Master's Degree Programs
Language Certificates
In some degree programs, all prospective students must also provide proof of foreign language skills. International students interested in studying must also prove their German language skills. The language requirements that apply in a specific degree program are shown in the respective degree program profile under "Overview". You can access the degree program profiles via the ► Degree Program Overview.
Career Counselling for Teachers (CCT)
With the help of this online self-exploration, you can gain more clarity about your career goal as a prospective teacher. If you work through the questionnaires and checklists honestly, you will be able to better assess whether the teaching profession suits you. The results are also intended to help you at the beginning of your studies and during your studies to identify, deepen and expand key competencies for the teaching profession. The CCT procedure is therefore not a test that you can pass or fail. The procedure is only intended to make prospective students aware of what it means to become a teacher.
To enroll at the University of Rostock, you must certify that you have completed the "Guided Tour 1" of the CCT.
- You will receive information about the job profile of teachers.
- You clarify whether these activities are attractive for you.
- You check whether you have favorable personal qualifications for the teaching profession.
- You will deal with your previous experiences in dealing with children and adolescents.
- You will receive a summary of the results and tips for further activities.
- Open the website www.cct-germany.de and click on the button "Prospective students".
- Go to "Guided Tours" in the taskbar at the top and fully edit "Tour 1: Should I start a teacher course?".
- We can also view your information in the questionnaire without knowing who the information comes from (the collection is completely anonymous). We would like to use this information to improve the quality of teacher training. To do this, please enter the corresponding group name in addition to your chosen code at the required place. The group name depends on the desired teacher training course and can be found in the list on the side.
- Please write down your chosen code and the name of the group. You can recall your results under the code at a later time and compare them with results from the 2nd or 3rd guided tour that you might want to see after an internship or a few semesters.
- After the tour has ended, the certificate of participation will be activated. Please print out the proof of completion of the tour, enter your name, add your signature to the proof and attach it to the documents for your registration.
The result of the self-assessment has no influence on the selection decision for the allocation of study places at the University of Rostock. This means that the self-assessment does not result in any improvement or deterioration in the admission process. Only the submission of the proof, on which only participation in the CCT procedure is noted, will be checked as part of your enrolment at the University of Rostock.
The results from "Tour 1" will be processed by the CCT program. This is the only way to provide relevant advice and information based on your information with the aim of aptitude advice. Since you give yourself a code that no one but you knows, the results can by no means be assigned to a specific person. Your results remain completely anonymous. If you have entered a group name, the data can then be used anonymously by the Centre for Teacher Education and Educational Research at the University of Rostock for research aimed at improving the quality of teacher training.
Here you can go directly to the ► start of Guided Tour 1.
