University of Rostock now a full member of the European University EU-CONEXUS - Approval of the second funding phase

The EU-CONEXUS European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability is an association of nine European universities from France, Spain, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Lithuania, Ireland and Cyprus as well as the University of Rostock. Its aim is to enable interdisciplinary research across national borders and also to offer students a truly European course of study. The focus is on the comprehensive topic area of the sustainability of (semi-)urban coastal regions. Like the University of Rostock, the partner universities also have focal points in maritime and sustainability-oriented research.

The University Alliance, consisting of the University of La Rochelle, the Catholic University of Valencia, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the University of Zadar, the University of Klaipeda, the Agricultural University of Athens, the South East Technological University as well as the Frederick University of Cyprus, was one of the first to be selected by the EU Commission for funding through the "European Universities" programme in 2019.

"With a wonderful team, this Erasmus+ programme strengthens the international mobility of teaching and research in Europe and the socio-political transfer for the sustainable development of European coastal regions," highlights Professor Wolfgang Schareck, Rector of the University of Rostock.

From the next funding period (2022-2026), the University of Rostock will be joined by the South East Technological University from Ireland and Frederick University from Cyprus as full members. The National I. I. Metschnikov University in Odessa is to become a new associate member.
