Enrolment for PhD courses

Non-German international graduate students which want to enroll for PhD courses direct their application to the University of Rostock. Application is possible at any time.

Application for PhD courses for enrolled students of other universities

If you have studied at a national or international university and seek entrance to a PhD course at the University of Rostock, you have to file an Application for admission to German university for international applicants with foreign academic qualification. Application is possible at any time.

  • filled and signed application form (download the German application or English application),
  • officially certified copy of the university degree entitling the holder to a doctorate in the national language (i.e. master's degree) with an officially certified copy of the German or English translation
  • simple copy of another university degree in the national language (i.e. bachelor's degree) with a simple copy of the German or English translation
  • simple copy of the university entrance qualification in the national language (i.e. Abitur certificate) with a simple copy of the German or English translation
  • copy of a valid identity card or passport
  • form for the registration of doctoral students - deu - eng- (simple copy) - Please send the original to the Graduate Academy!

Please don’t staple the documents and hand them in, in minimal size of A5.

Confirmation of arrival can only be given if a prepared and post-paid postal card is attached to your application.

The handed in documents will be destroyed after the process. In your own interest please do not enclose your original documents, only certified copies in original.
