The University of Rostock and the LiMatI Collaborative Research Center congratulate Professor Alexander Szameit on a special scientific award: he has once again been included in the prestigious list of “Highly Cited Researchers”. This honor is only bestowed on scientists whose scientific publications are cited above average worldwide and thus have an extraordinary influence on the international research community.
Alexander Szameit is one of only nine physicists in Germany and 151 physicists worldwide to receive this recognition this year. His research work on the physics of light, particularly in the field of optical quantum computers, forms the basis for numerous further studies. His findings enable progress to be made in the simulation of complex physical phenomena and promote the understanding of fundamental mechanisms in the field of solid-state optics.
“This award not only recognizes my contribution, but also the excellent collaboration with my colleagues and students. Science is always teamwork,” emphasizes Professor Szameit.
His career underlines the international appeal of his work. After studying physics and completing his doctorate and habilitation at the universities of Halle and Jena, he spent research periods in Australia, Israel and Hawaii. Since 2016, he has been Professor and Managing Director of the Institute of Physics at the University of Rostock.
The “Highly Cited Researchers” award is presented annually by Clarivate Analytics and is based on the frequency with which scientific papers are cited in leading scientific journals. It is an important indicator of the quality and significance of research achievements.
The University of Rostock and the LiMatI Collaborative Research Center in particular are proud to have such a top researcher in their ranks, who has a significant impact on international science and makes the University of Rostock visible worldwide.
