The Graduate Academy at the University of Rostock is the central service and coordination office for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers. It supports researchers in the early stages of their careers and helps to further develop the conditions for their academic and career development at the University of Rostock. In collaboration with other departments within and outside the Talent Development and Diversity Office, the Graduate Academy further develops counseling, training, and support services for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers and assists with the organization of the Graduate Council. The aim is to create good conditions for the qualification phase and to further develop the university as an attractive place for academic careers.
Tasks of the Graduate Academy
The Graduate Academy works together with other university departments to further develop programs for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers. These include, in particular, counseling, skills development, and support services, as well as networking opportunities.
Counseling and Support: Questions regarding doctorate, the postdoctoral phase, or future academic careers can take many forms. The Graduate Academy provides guidance and helps researchers find the right contacts and services within the university.
The Graduate Academy is supported in this effort by the Liaison Officer of the Graduate Academyand the Career Hubwithin the Career Development Office/Academic Staff Development of the Staff Unit Talent Development and Diversity.
Qualification: An academic career involves more than just good research. Our qualification courses support the development of transferable skills and complement the specialist qualifications offered within the faculties.
Funding: The Graduate Academy supports doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers with various funding opportunities. Each funding program has its own specific eligibility requirements.
Networking: Exchange creates new perspectives and connections. The Graduate Academy offers opportunities for networking across faculties and disciplines and supports exchange among researchers in the early stages of their careers (e.g., regular get-togethers for doctoral candidates).
Target Groups of the Graduate Academy
Doctoral candidates: The Graduate Academy supports all doctoral candidates who have successfully registered.
REGISTER AS DOCTORAL CANDIDATE
Postdoctoral Researchers: The Graduate Academy supports all registered postdoctoral researchers at the University of Rostock and the University Medical Center Rostock for up to six years after they have completed their doctorate. Unfortunately, postdoctoral researchers at affiliated institutes (such as IOW, LIKAT, etc.) are not eligible to take advantage of the Graduate Academy’s services.
Network of the Graduate Academy
