Make-a-Home

A Workshop by Denise Uyehara, 02.12.2016, Universität Rostock

Participants are invited to create homes of their past out of natural and found objects, write about these homes and create mini-installations using text, object and performance. No writing or performance experience is necessary.  Please bring some objects from nature to communally share, and pen and paper.  Please wear comfortable clothing.

Uyehara is an award-wining performance artist and a mother of two.  She has lectured at the University of California, Irvine; The Claremont Colleges; Arizona State University.  She holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature and the M.F.A. from the Department of World Arts and Cultures.  Maps of City & Body: Shedding Light on the Performances of Denise Uyehara  (Kaya Press) documents some of her earlier work.  Her work also appears in collections including The Methuen Drama Anthology of Testimonial Plays (Bloomsbury), O Solo Homo (Grove), and Alexander Street Press (online archive of plays).
