Aus Anlass ihres fünfzigjährigen Bestehens schreibt die Gerda Henkel Stiftung das neue Förderprogramm „Prospekt Utopia“ aus. Das Programm richtet sich weltweit an Postdoktorandinnen und Postdoktoranden aller von der Stiftung geförderten Disziplinen – von der Archäologie bis zu den Geschichts- und Sozialwissenschaften. Gefördert werden Forschungsprojekte, die Zukunft in unterschiedlichen Formen in den Blick nehmen und deren Deutung und Gestaltung reflektieren. Denkbare Themenfelder umfassen historische Entwürfe von Fortschritt, Gemeinschaft und Gerechtigkeit. Sie schließen auch gegenwärtige Idealvorstellungen künftigen Zusammenlebens, die Rolle der Wissenschaft und technologische Entwicklungen ein.
Insgesamt werden 50 Projekte mit jeweils bis zu 50.000 Euro gefördert. Das Auswahlverfahren ist zweistufig angelegt.
Bewerbungsschluss ist der 15. April 2026.

To mark its 50th anniversary, the Gerda Henkel Foundation is launching a new funding program called “Prospect Utopia.” The program is open to postdoctoral researchers worldwide in all disciplines supported by the foundation—from archaeology to history and social sciences. Funding will be provided for research projects that examine the future in various forms and reflect on its interpretation and shaping. Possible topics include historical concepts of progress, community, and justice. They also include current ideals of future coexistence, the role of science, and technological developments.
A total of 50 projects will be funded with up to €50,000 each. The selection process is a two-stage process.
