We are pleased that almost all Baltic TRANSCOAST PhD students (including associates) and PIs (University of Rostock / Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde) as well as special guests will join the Retreat II to strenghten the interdisciplinary collaboration and to establish new connections to related projects.
One of our special guests will be Prof. Dr. Wrage-Mönnig, University of Rostock, Faculty for Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Chair of Grassland and Fodder Sciences, Project Speaker of Wetscapes Project, who will present Wetscapes project to identify potential linkages to Baltic TRANSCOAST 2nd phase.
Furthermore our Mercator Fellow Dr. Ajit Subramaniam, Lamont Research Professor, Columbia University, USA, will join the Retreat II and will present the results from remote sensing and other observations.
Within the framework of our program, we have planned time for scientific discussions and work in three thematic break out groups:
1) Eco-hydrological conditions, biogeochemical parameters, microbiological community and rates in peatland and coastal waters
2) How and when does the Warnow River plume impact the shallow coast?
3) Fauna, flora, and microbial impact on species abundance and rates.
We are looking forward to an extensive workshop with our team members and invited guests.
