Interdisziplinäre Forschung braucht Kommunikation und passende Netzwerke. Mit dem Programm „Begegnungszonen“ unterstützt die Joachim-Herz-Stiftung Veranstaltungen für junge Naturwissenschaftlerinnen und Naturwissenschaftler.
Bei der Förderung internationaler Veranstaltungen ist das Ziel eine Verstärkerung der Kooperationen zwischen deutschen und US-amerikanischen Institutionen. Dabei ist auch ein bilateraler mehrjähriger Austausch denkbar. Verbindliche Förderzusagen können aber jeweils nur für den unten genannten Projekt-Zeitraum erfolgen.
An wen richtet sich die Ausschreibung?
Die Ausschreibung richtet sich an Organisatorinnen und Organisatoren von Veranstaltungen wie Workshops, Symposien, Kolloquien, Tagungen und Konferenzen sowie Summer bzw. Winter Schools in den Naturwissenschaften, die
- interdisziplinäre Themen aufgreifen,
- Promovierende und Postdocs aktiv einbeziehen und den Austausch mit erfahrenen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern ermöglichen,
- mindestens drei Tage dauern und 30 bis 150 Teilnehmende haben,
- idealerweise neue (inklusive digitale/hybride) Veranstaltungsformate erproben und
- zwischen dem 1. September 2023 und 30. November 2024 stattfinden.
Eine internationale Ausrichtung ist erwünscht. Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte sind auch wichtig. Berücksichtigen Sie diese gern in der Konzeption und Planung Ihrer Veranstaltung. Die Anträge müssen von einer öffentlichen Forschungseinrichtung bzw. einer gemeinnützigen Organisation in Deutschland stammen.
Die kommende Ausschreibung beginnt am 31. Januar 2023 und endet am 16. Mai 2023.

Interdisciplinary research calls for communication and the suitable networks. With the program “Begegnungszonen”, Joachim Herz foundation supports events for young scientists.
In the context of the support for international events, this call aims to improve collaborations between institutions in Germany and in the USA. Bilateral multi-year exchanges are possible; however, funding confirmations will only be made for the project period given below.
The call for proposals is aimed at the organizers of events such as workshops, symposia, colloquia, and conferences as well as summer and winter schools in the natural sciences that:
- take up interdisciplinary topics,
- actively engage doctoral candidates and postdocs and facilitate a dialog with senior scientists,
- last at least three days and are attended by 30 to 150 participants,
- will ideally test new (including digital/hybrid) event formats and
- will take place between September 1, 2023, and November 30, 2024.
An international dimension is desired. Sustainability aspects are also important. You are welcome to consider them in the conception and planning of your event. Applications must be made from a public research institution or an organization with a charitable status in Germany.

- completed application form
- project outline including a cost projection and a (preliminary) event program
- academic CVs of the main applicants (each max. 3,600 characters incl. blanks)
